The Federation of New Zealand Ostomy Societies

Ostomy Societies were first established in New Zealand in 1961 and now undertake a variety of services and support to ostomates.

VISITING Ostomy patients in hospital or at home, both before and after surgery
TRAINING Existing ostomates in visitor procedures and techniques and issuing authorisation on completion of the visitors’ course.
PROVIDING Literature and other information on the management of ostomies.
PUBLISHING The Federation’s journal called “The N Z Ostomate” three times yearly, for all ostomates (whether members of the Society or not) and available free from appliance supply sources.
SPEAKING To all interested groups, especially students of nursing practice.
ORGANISING Meetings with the opportunity for ostomates to discuss topics of mutual interest and to hear surgeons, nursing staff and other guest speakers on relevant topics.
ARRANGING For displays of all types of appliance available in New Zealand at these meetings
ARRANGING Social functions, outings etc.
PROVIDING This WEBSITE is available to all ostomates
